CORKERY GARDENING CLUB 2012
As the Corkery Gardening Club enters its seventh year, an assortment of workshops, garden tours and nursery related field trips are being arranged. The Corkery Gardening Club is a group of lively, friendly individuals sharing their knowledge and skills as part of this cooperative CCA sponsored club. We generally meet every second Thursday night at about 7:00PM, location of meeting dependent on event booked.  End of season is wrapped up with a dinner out mid October.  CCA membership and $2 donation required for most meetings.  Monies collected help pay for guest speakers, thank you gifts & for work shop supplies.  Car pooling is usually arranged for trips away.

May 3rd  7:00PM
--  First meeting. Season planning, social meet & greet at CCA building

May 17th 7:00PM
  --  Guest speaker hopefully*, member plant share at CCA building

May 26th 9:00AM (SAT)
-- Tour of Richard Inchley’s Ponds & Aquaria, optional attendance at “Fish for Water Garden” seminar at 10:30AM.  Registration required for 10:30AM Seminar.

May 31st  7:00PM
  -- Container planter workshop, Kingscreek Nurseries, Carp.  Cost TBAnnounced

June 2nd  9:00AM
-- noon  (SAT), Fundraising Plant Sale on CCA lawn

June 14th 7:00PM
– Tour of Rock Wall Gardens (near Perth), rain date following Thursday if necessary.

June 28th 7:00PM
– tour of extensive private garden (between Almonte & Carleton Place)

July 12th 7:00PM
– tour of Marcia’s gardens & demo of her worm composting system.

July 26th 7:00PM
– tour of hosta specialist’s gardens (near Waba)

August (9th & 23rd) and Sept.(6th & 20th) not booked yet


*if I don’t find a speaker for this date & no one else does either, we will just do plant share and social.

2ND & 3RD MEETINGS: 7:00PM MAY 12th & 26th (same place)

2011 CORKERY GARDENING CLUB SEASON OPENING MEETINGS
• First two meetings are intended to be social/organizational meetings for the year. We will work on filling our season’s calendar with tours or workshops as submitted by members.
• 3rd meeting, Thursday May 26th may include a guest speaker/tour/activity as well as our Spring Plant Share.  Members bring plants from divisions or splits or any excess plants we have in excess to share.  Labelled plant seeds welcome as well. 
• We will be participating in CCA’s Spring Yard Sale with a fund raising plant sale table on Saturday June 4th.
• We will generally meet every second Thursday for the rest of the season until our final mid-October dinner out

LAST YEAR'S MEETINGS & TOURS:
May 21  - Horticulturalist to give slide show presentation of “Perennials for all Seasons” & to take gardening questions.  $5.  Also club plant share/exchange.
June 4  - Open house of a member’s garden & plant collection for June 6th Yard Sale
** June 11th extra meeting  - Concrete stepping stone workshop at member’s home
** June 13th  extra meeting  - Tour of local Oriental garden.
June 18th  - Tour of Cedar Hill area Lupine Display garden.
July 4th  - to be arranged still                                                                                    
July 16th  - A Garden & Critter Tour in Corkery area.  Tour of member’s garden & then off to admire farm animals at neighbouring member’s home.
Future tours & workshops to be arranged include the following: rustic garden object making, stained glass stepping stone workshop, tour of Experimental Farm Arboretum, garden photography presentation.
 

CCA membership required for all CCA sponsored clubs.  $25.00/family, $10.00 Seniors (60+)
