Hockey Day Details

Date:  Saturday, January 25, 2020
Time:  09:00 am until we are finished.
Admission:  A new or used hockey stick or $10 to help us send the sticks up north to hockey-mad Hall Beach, Nunavut. Includes free chili, coffee and hot chocolate. Sign up to bring chili.
Ages:  Players must be 13 and up
Location:  Corkery Community Centre Rink, 3447 Old Almonte Road

Tournament Format

  • Five skaters per team (four on the ice and one spare)
  • Games will be 20 mins long (10 min halves), with a 2 min break at half and 8 mins between games (30 mins per game slot)
  • Win your first game and stay in the Championship round; lose your first game and you drop to the Consolation round
  • Lose your second (whether you won your first or not) and your team is eliminated
  • Goalies will be assigned to games (not teams!) at random – if not enough goalies have registered tournament organizers will get creative.

Tournament Details

  • New this year All players register as individuals. Tournament organizers will draft teams of 5 from the individuals who have registered.
  • If you would like to play on the same team as a friend or family member please mention their name in the comments section of your registration.
  • Teams scrape the ice before they play – as a warm up. The better the scrape, the better the ice.
  • No slap shots or shots above the net.
  • Helmets are required.
  • Players from teams (not playing) may be asked to referee.
  • Prizes for champions and consolation winners.
  • We are aiming for 6 teams but if more people register, we’ll just keep adding teams!
