CORKERY T-BALL
The T-ball program will be offered to boys and girls age 4 – 7 in the Corkery community. This year we will be splitting the kids into 4-5 year olds and 6-7 year olds. The goals of this league include providing an introduction to the game of baseball and allowing the children to experience the value of teamwork. And of course, the main goal will be to have fun!
The emphasis will be on individual physical development of basic running, hitting and throwing skills by adhering to the guidelines provided by the Learn to Play program of Baseball Canada. The 6 and 7 year olds may progress to being exposed to hitting pitches rather then off a tee. Each session will be one hour in duration.
CORKERY BASEBALL
The baseball program will be offered to boys and girls 8 – 10 years old in the Corkery community. The goals of this league include building on the skills learned in the T-ball program and start to build on fundamentals of baseball. Kids will be exposed to hitting pitches rather than off the tee. Each session will include approximately 30 minutes of drills in a practice format and approximately 30 minutes of game action.
GAMES AND PRACTICES
The T-ball and baseball season will run from Wednesday, September 4 – October 16, a total of 7 sessions. There will be one session per week on Wednesdays at 6:00 pm at the baseball diamond at the Corkery Community Centre. We ask parents and kids to show up 5 – 10 minutes early to allow time to organize the group before the 6 p.m. start time.
COST
The cost of registration is $50 per child. All proceeds will be used to fund the purchase of equipment with any surplus donated to the Corkery Community Association.
EQUIPMENT
The Corkery Community Association will provide balls, bats, bases and batting tees. Parents are asked to provide their child with a glove and batting helmet.
REGISTRATION
Registration is now closed for the 2024 season.
VOLUNTEERING
If you have not yet done so, please consider getting involved as a volunteer. In order to make the program successful, we really need a lot of great volunteers and coaches to get involved. You don’t need to know the game; you just have to learn it faster than the children.
We will need one coach to volunteer to run 4-5 year old age group this year. Directions will be provided in this regard. We will organize a coaches meeting for head coaches and assistant coaches prior to the start of the season to review important details
