Volunteer Opportunities
Join us in the Community
We are a dynamic group of volunteers who have a lot of fun by working together. We believe that “Many hands” do indeed “Make Light Work”. If you want to see what sort of activities we run because of the enthusiasm of our volunteers, just continue to check out the activities and events listed on this website. But, we always need more help – because there is always so many things we want to do.
There are many opportunities to contribute to running our recreation programs and events. We welcome new volunteers to help make our events successful. If you have a particular interest, hobby you wish to share, or talent you wish to pass on, please let us know.
Ways of Volunteering
We have tried to organize our volunteers so that you can choose whether to volunteer for just a few hours a month (for example – on the executive), just for a few hours now and then ( just as helping with our gardens) or on a particular day, such as Spring Clean Up or Canada Day.
By having volunteers, we are able to provide many community events at little or no cost to our residents.
Rink Volunteer
The City has given the green light for outdoor rinks this winter and we are expecting a very busy season in Corkery. With folks keeping away from most indoor skating facilities, the outdoor rink is going to see a lot more action.
In anticipation of these additional ice-users, we would like to install a puddle skating surface for folks (and kids!) who would prefer to avoid hockey players. In order to manage this new skating surface and keep both it and the rink in good shape we need your help!
If you think you’ll have some time this winter please contact Andrew McIsaac at rink@corkerycommunity.ca. Safety protocols will be in place. Flooding the rink could make for a fun family outing!
Spring Clean Up
The Corkery Community Association participates in the Clean up the Capital Day.
We will gather at the community center for coffee and muffins at 9:00 am and return around noon for a BBQ. Volunteers will be provided with rubber gloves and large garbage bags.
Please sign up on-line for a specific road section to clean-up. This project qualifies for student volunteer hours.
For information, please check out the event page.
